Getting Comfortable With Python

Wall ID: W01

Welcome to the "Getting Comfortable with Python Wall"

  • This wall focuses on foundational Python skills essential for machine learning in biochemistry, especially for students who are new to coding or feeling rusty.

  • This wall is still under construction, but it is already climbable. You’ll find a growing set of routes designed to help you build confidence with Python through hands-on practice. More routes will be added as we progress.

  • Think of this wall as your warm-up and trust-building zone: where you learn how to move, clip in, and recover from small slips before tackling more challenging terrain later in the course.

Some of the material you’ll cover here (constantly updated)

  • Getting up and running in Google Colab
  • Writing and running Python code in notebooks
  • Core data structures and control flow
  • Working with tabular data using pandas
  • Simple visualizations to inspect and understand data

You don’t need prior programming experience to start here — just curiosity and patience.

Start with the easier routes and work your way up. Or jump into a harder one just for fun! Confidence comes from repetition!

Remember: "The ROUTES will teach you how to do it!"
